Why we pay with
WHEN DO YOU GET PAID BY PAYPAL?
If you're reading this page, it's because you received a gig offer from one of our amazing ShowSlinger internal National Booking Agents. ShowSlinger is a DIY app for venues to book artists easily and for artists to make more money with innovative features like the DigiTip Jar and FanFunding. Sometimes, though, certain venues just don't want to deal with booking artists at all. That's where we step in and have our own ShowSlinger experts do the booking on behalf of the venue. When this happens, ShowSlinger pays you by PayPal.
IS GETTING PAID BY PAYPAL BETTER FOR ME?
Yes! You don't have to wait around forever after you pack up to get paid. Just go home and you'll find your payment waiting for you 24 hrs. after the gig. You get paid 24 hrs. after the gig because ShowSlinger pays thousands and thousands of artists every month. So, we created an automated payment system for you.
Plus, you don't have to worry about cashing annoying checks like it's 1987 and it's immediately available in your PayPal account so you can pay other band members if needed.
Bonus? You won't have a wad of cash in your pocket that can be stolen, robbed or lost. Rest easy knowing that your hard-earned money is secure as hell and that's really important to us here at ShowSlinger.
WHY DON'T I GET PAID BY THE VENUE AFTER THE GIG LIKE I ALWAYS DO?
When ShowSlinger National Booking Agents do the booking on behalf of the venue, we pay the artists and handle the tax forms for the venue. This makes payments easier for them and you. Instead of having to sit around after the gig for an hour to wait for the venue owner to pay you, you can just pack up and leave and you'll get paid automatically the next day. Pack up, go home, and get a good night's sleep.
I'M SCARED OF THE TAX MAN, WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I GET PAID THIS WAY? DO I HAVE TO PAY MORE IN TAXES?
No. First of all, PayPal may automatically send you a 1099-K forms at the end of the year, but they don't legally have to send this to you unless you have more than 200 transactions (gigs) with us per year AND you make over $20,000. For many artists, this simply won't happen. For those that are getting paid that much (which happens more than you'd think), it's up to you to report that income. Fear not though, if you're making that much money as a pro musician, you can write off most of your expenses to the point that 99% of musicians nationwide never have to pay tax at all.

DO I GET SPANKED WITH EXTRA FEES GETTING PAID THIS WAY?
Hell no! We are the most artist-friendly company out there and we couldn't bear the thought of someone else taking your hard earned money! We know how hard it is to get the gigs, deal with the venues, rehearse a great show, etc!
